Britney Spears’ latest single “Hold it Against Me” dropped on Tuesday and by Wednesday had gone straight to the top of the iTunes charts. But don’t expect a live performance by Britney at the Grammy Awards in February. Even though her life has rebounded significantly since her disastrous live appearance on the 2007 MTV VMAs, it is unlikely that live TV performances are in her near future.

Spears has been dissected by the pop culture media for every thing from her celebrity fashion style to her money management problems, but the one thing nobody can deny is the major danceabilty of her new hit. Says Entertainment Weekly’s music critic Leah Greenblatt, the song is super catchy: “Two weeks later, you’re, like, dreaming that song and singing it in the shower,” she says.

Britney Spears Fighting Court Case, Working on New Album

Britney Spears has spent the past decade as an icon of celebrity fashion style as well as pop music, and she is currently trying to keep upcoming court proceedings from becoming public. Former bodyguard Fernando Flores has sued Spears, saying that she sexually harassed him, and Spears’ lawyers are trying to have the case moved from civil to probate court so that the proceedings will not become public. The Spears legal team argues that Flores would use civil court to reveal personal information and extort a settlement from her.

But Spears is also busy in the studio, working with producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke, who have been behind some of her biggest hits. The new album should be released in early 2011. Producer Dr. Luke wouldn’t give specifics on the album, but said, ''It'll be a departure from what you've heard.”

Britney Fills Fox Network with 'Glee'

Britney Spears is back in the middle of the hottest celebrity news and gossip after appearing on hit television show “Glee.” The episode, which aired Tuesday night on Fox, was the highest rated episode of “Glee” among adults age 18-49. The episode out-paced second place CBS by 24% in the adult demographic. The show featured several of her hit songs, including “Baby One More Time,” and “Me Against the Music.”

The idea for her cameo appearance on the Britney-themed episode of “Glee” came from her co-manager Adam leber, who floated the idea on Twitter. It received a hugely positive response, and “Glee” creator Ryan Murphy within days said he was interested in pursuing the idea of having Britney on the show. Britney Spears kicked off her tour in New Orleans last night (03.03.09).

The troubled pop princess descended from the ceiling of the New Orleans Arena dressed as a ringmaster to perform the title track of her album 'Circus'.

The tour is Britney's first run of arena shows in nearly five years and featured jugglers, clowns, ninjas and aerial acrobats.

The singer showed off her newly-buff body in a series of slinky, revealing costumes, including thigh-high black boots and a feathered cheetah headdress.

However, Britney lip-synched on almost all her songs.

The Pussycat Dolls warmed up the crowd from 8pm, playing 40 minutes of their hits including 'Don't Cha', 'When I Grow Up' and 'Bottle Pop'.

The crowd erupted when Britney appeared onstage at 9.20pm and didn't stop screaming until her encore performance of 'Womanizer' 90 minutes later.

She performed 'Baby One More Time', 'Piece of Me' and 'Gimme More' but refused to speak to the crowd until the very end of the show, when she said: "Thank you New Orleans, I love u guys. Did y'all have a good time? Thank you so much."

The tour will take in 25 US dates but there is reportedly already tension brewing between Britney and her ex-husband Kevin Federline, who is being paid £3,500 a week to join the singer so she can have their sons Sean Preston, three, and Jayden James, two, by her side.

Kevin had promised to support Britney during her last dress rehearsal on Monday (02.03.09) but he abandoned the singer and went to a New Orleans casino with friends.

A source said: "On Monday, when Britney was preparing, you might have thought he would have been at her side with the boys.

"Instead he spent the night in Harrah's Casino, hitting the blackjack tables and knocking back drinks with three pals."

Jamie Spears Attacks Ex-manager

Britney Spears' father has branded her ex-manager a "dangerous predator".

Jamie Spears made the comments while giving his testimony at a Los Angeles court on Monday (23.02.09), where he was attempting to maintain a restraining order which keeps Sam Lutfi away from Britney.

Jamie - who is co-conservator of Britney's personal and professional affairs - said: "When Lutfi was in so-called control, she'd lost everything - her kids and career. I believe he's a predator, I believe he's very dangerous to her and causes her a lot of anguish and disbelief. We've asked him to go away before, and now he's coming back. We just want the man to go away. Just leave us alone."

Jamie also insists he will do everything in his power to keep Britney's ex-boyfriend paparazzo Adnan Ghalib away from the 27-year-old singer.
The concerned parent - who now runs every aspect of Britney's life, including monitoring her phone calls - also claims the pop star's security team recently confiscated a pre-paid phone which was given to her by Sam and Adnan.

In court papers, Sam denies he has been harassing Britney.

He claims the singer has been contacting him via text message, even though she is forbidden to do so by a court order.

The former manager admits he has passed messages to Britney via her hairdresser, but insists they were not harmful.

However, Jamie claims he has received several threatening messages from someone known as 'citygalin310' and is adamant they are from Sam.
The hearing will resume on Wednesday (25.02.09).

BRITNEY has welcomed her former assistant back on board with open arms.

FELICIA CULOTTA - who worked with the Womanizer singer during her rise to fame in 1998 until 2007 - has returned to work with the popstar.

She took on the role of chaperone as soon as Britney signed to Jive Records as Brit's mum LYNNE was busy caring for her then 6-year-old sister JAMIE LYNN.

Felicia even played a teacher in the video for debut song Baby, One More Time in which Brit donned a school uniform.

Posted on Britney's official website, Felicia wrote: "Britney has always held a special place in my heart, and over the course of the last year I have seen her work harder than she ever has in her entire life.

"I felt I had to be part of this exciting time in Britney's career. I love Britney and missed her dearly."

Britney Spears is reportedly paying Kevin Federline $5,000 a week to take the kids on tour

BRITNEY SPEARS is reportedly paying ex hubby KEVIN FEDERLINE $5,000 a week – for his permission to take their kids on tour.

The singer is desperate to be in constant contact with little SEAN PRESTON and JAYDEN JAMES when she hits the road, and is said to have agreed a deal with K-Fed – who has sole custody of the children.

Kevin told TMZ.com: “I’m gonna take the kids on the road... they need to see their mother, right?”

As well as making a huge wad of cash on the side, bloated rapper Kev will also have a seat on the tourbus when Britney sets off on her US tour in March.

Meanwhile, her ex boyfriend ADNAN GHALIB is under investigation in the US after he allegedly struck a court worker with his car.

The reported incident occurred when a process server turned up at his Encino apartment with legal papers ordering him to appear in the restraining order case.

The alleged victim reportedly suffered cuts and bruises but refused treatment when cops arrived at the scene.

Britney Spears said to be upset about son's not being able to tour with her

Britney Spears is due to start her 44-date Circus tour in three weeks but those close to her fear she’s in no fit state to go ahead.

The tour kicks off in New Orleans on 3 March, followed by back-to back dates covering most of America and ending at London’s O2 Arena.

‘Britney’s like a wound-up spring waiting to go off,’ a source tells Now. ‘She’s still taking medication to get through each day.

‘She’s so stressed about the kids and so nervous about the tour that it’s making her physically ill. The only way she can release that tension is to scream at whoever’s closest.

‘She locks herself in her room or the bathroom and frequently breaks down in tears.’

Two weeks ago Britney, 27, announced on her blog that sons Sean, three, and Jayden, two, would accompany her on tour but days later Kevin Federline's lawyer declared that, although a deal was close, it wasn’t actually agreed as yet.

To make things worse, her self-styled former manager Sam Lutfi, 33, has filed papers to sue Britney and her parents for libel and defamation. Her dad Jamie, 56, had already issued an injunction to stop Sam going anywhere near his daughter, while her mum Lynne, 53, once claimed in court papers that Sam had ground prescription medication into Britney’s food.

‘The Sam Lutfi episode has been another blow – she doesn’t have room in her head for all this at such a busy time for her,’ adds our source.

Britney Spears' ex allegedly fleed the scene of accident

Britney Spears' ex boyfriend Adnan Ghalib is being accused of 'assault with a deadly weapon' - his car.

On Monday the British photographer allegedly drove into a man who was trying to serve him court papers, then fled the scene.

The legal documents Adnan appeared keen to avoid related to the restraining order issued on 30 January to keep him away from Britney, 27.

‘[The process server] ended up on the hood of the car, then fell off when [Adnan] drove away, and ended up with scratches and bruises,’ Lieutenant Brian Whitten tells People.

‘[But] he's not liable for arrest. We first need to get his side of the story.’

Adnan, 36, had no comment to make about the incident.

Britney Spears sued by ex-manager

Britney Spears' former manager is suing her for defamation and breach of contract.

In papers filed at a Los Angeles Court yesterday (03.02.09), Sam Lutfi alleges Britney and her parents Jamie and Lynne Spears - who he is also suing - libelled him, committed battery and caused him intentional emotional distress.

The papers claim: "Jamie and Lynne launched a campaign of lies and intimidation designed to destroy Lutfi and drive him out of Britney's life. This campaign also provided Jamie with the opportunity he needed to obtain an appointment as Britney's conservator.

"Despite seemingly accomplishing their objectives, Jamie and Lynne have nevertheless continued their smear campaign against Lutfi. Thus, having no other alternative, Lutfi brings this action to defend himself against Jamie's and Lynne's persistent attacks."

Jamie became co-conservator of Britney's personal and professional affairs last year, following her public breakdown. While in the position, he banned Lutfi from seeing the 27-year-old singer.

Last week, Jamie and Britney's lawyer Andrew Wallet - who also acts as co-conservator - were granted a new restraining order against Lutfi, after they claimed he was harassing the Spears family.

Lutfi is also claiming his reputation was tarnished by Lynne's tell-all memoir 'Through the Storm', in which she talks about his alleged control over Britney.

The lawsuit says "since the publication of the book, Lutfi has been subjected to unfathomable amounts of ridicule and scorn," and has received "numerous death threats from overzealous fans," the lawsuit reads, adding Lutfi can "no longer find work as a counsellor of at-risk teens".Lutfi goes on to claim Jamie "punched him in the chest" in January 2008, causing "injury to his nervous system and person".Jamie reportedly screamed that "Lutfi had made a rude comment to Lynne the night before."Lutfi - who alleges he was Britney's manager from 2007 - also claims he had an oral agreement with the 'Womanizer' singer that he would receive 15 per cent of her earnings.He claims the agreement was formalised via a text message Britney sent him which stated: "Sam, so that's fine, I want you to be my manager, you were right its 15 per cent of my money but for 4 years not 5."Lutfi's lawyer Bryan J. Freedman has claimed there is "overwhelming evidence" to support the claims from independent witnesses. Jamie's lawyers are yet to issue a comment on the lawsuit.

Britney Spears is set to sign a £10 million book deal.

The 'Womanizer' singer is expected to begin writing her tell-all tome when she finishes her sell-out world tour 'The Circus Starring: Britney Spears'.

It is believed she could pen up to five explosive books over the next 10 years.

A source told Britain's Daily Mirror newspaper: "There have been numerous unofficial biographies printed about Britney, but she's never agreed to pen her own tome - until now.

"And some of the stories she's got are absolute dynamite. She's kept diaries so there's nothing she'll leave out unless she wants to.

"If the deal goes ahead she will write between three and five books throughout the next decade - it's one of the most lucrative book deals in showbiz history.

"Britney will talk frankly about growing up and how she went off the rails. It'll be a gripping read."

Last year, Britney's mother Lynne left the star devastated when she released her revealing book 'Through the Storm: A Real Story of Fame and Family in a Tabloid World'.It revealed how Britney - now 27 - started drinking aged 13, lost her virginity to at the age of 14 and took drugs when she was 15.

Britney Spears is moving out of the LA house where she had her public meltdown last year.

The singer, 27, is relocating to an exclusive gated community in the Calabasas area of the city.

The luxury pad, reportedly worth £4million, is said to have a marble and glass mosaic pool, a cinema and a rose garden.

And it's a hit with sons Jayden James, 2, and Sean Preston, 3.

'I just took my babies to our new home, and they loved it!,' Britney writes on blogging site Twitter. 'I can't wait to move in.'

It is thought Britney will be renting the mansion while she builds a permanent place nearby.

Her dad Jamie, who controls her affairs, got permission from a court to sell her home in June.

Britney Spears' New Music Video Breakdown

Shooting on Britney Spears' new music video was stopped after the singer reportedly "sobbed hysterically" during a pole dance routine.

The troubled star, who was filming the promo for new single 'Give Me More', apparently looked "dead-eyed" and "disorientated" and became paranoid during her raunchy pole dance last Wednesday (25.07.07).

A source said: "Britney was rude, and she chain-smoked and drank an enormous amount of Red Bull throughout the shoot.

"She had a problem with the extras watching her pole dance, suddenly she was in floods of tears. It was sad to witness."

At one point, Britney - who was wearing a black leather waistcoat, a pair of black hot pants and ripped fishnet tights - squatted on the floor and hugged her Yorkshire Terrier puppy London as she vacantly stared into space.

Around 100 frustrated crewmembers were sent home after 18 hours on the Los Angeles shoot, which had been paid for by Britney.
